Tomsk Fairytale Wooden Lace Architecture
I will always stay way too biased about my Siberian hometown
Tomsk, because I just love it too much! But when it comes to wooden
architecture - Tomsk should undoubtedly
become world famous for it! And I will certainly make all the effort to bring
this clearly upcoming glory closer. :)
Tomsk, one of the oldest towns in Siberia, recently celebrated
its 400 years anniversary. Its unique
wooden architecture with intricate lace “gingerbread” decorations dates back to
18th, 19th centuries and is considered worldwide as an exceptional
heritage of art.
The fairytale carvings and houses make the town seem dreamy
and aerial – just touch the bubble and it will disappear. Yet, it is real, beautiful and adored by so
many. I truly believe people who built and carved those wooden masterpieces
must have had hearts of gold. Such delicate vibrant fairy tale architecture
carries the footprint of its creators’ kindhearted nature. But enough of my ramblings
– see for yourselves!
WOOOOW This looks like a propa fairytale place! Amazing! I would love to see these houses in person! Lovely post, thank you for sharing this with us.
