Norwegian 2-Day Bahamas Cruise – Yes, No, Maybe?
Cruise vacations are not for everybody and I have been
curious to check if I am on board with this type of travel or not. Guess what –
looks like I am on board with ANY type of travel. Ta-da!
We took a 2-day Norwegian Sky Cruise from Miami to the
Bahamas and I must say, though I will hardly ever become a cruise fan (well,
maybe in my eighties or so), it was a very very nice little vacation.
Cruises definitely have their perks. Just to name a few:
It started with breathtaking views of Miami from the 11th
floor deck when the ship sailed away and I set a personal record of taking like
500 pictures within 15 minutes. Oh no, my bad, it started a bit earlier... when we
checked out the cabin and my boyfriend began behaving all weird and, you know,
in-love-spontaneously-sexy...and later on I saw my goofy happy smile in the reflection
of the porthole. Was it the ship that turned my usually-lazy-after-years-of-being-together boyfriend into a woo-hoo lunatic with hyper-sexual disorder? Hard to say, but I definitely counted this one as a hell of a perk *smile*.
And then there was food…and more food…and even more food! However, there was no seafood buffet - my biggest disappointment.
But I kept on eating and complaining with my mouth full that the food was no
good and there were no tropical fruits and no gourmand cheeses and no seafood,
I was wining, finishing like the 4th dinner of the night. Yeeah… 3
days later, 5 pounds heavier, I still remember the taste of a mixed berry
cobbler rapped into a pancake, covered with caramel and vanilla ice-cream - my personal
creation, which I will be forever proud of!
We had great times at the beach, both on the private island
and in Nassau. We loved snorkeling at the Great Stirrup Cay and fighting with
waves at the Atlantis beach in Nassau. Throw in here some beers, Piña coladas, no
Wi-Fi, burned happy faces of tourists, cliché comedy shows (but who cares – some
jokes are still funny even if overused), funny dancing at the high deck discotheque
and you will end up having a hell of a weekend! Oh, and hundreds of colorful
juicy pictures!
First stop - the Great Stirrup Cay, cute little island to spend the day at the beach. Grab your snorkeling gear, a beer and enjoy!
Second day is Nassau. We chose the beach by the Atlantis resort and just loved it!
Nassau is very poor and looks neglected, even desolated. Despite of that I liked Nassau - the city is bursting with colors and has a very warm appeal.
Princess Agnes took her first trip since she came with me to Miami from her home-city Frankfurt. She is not dressed for the occasion, being all European lady like and fancy, but I think she enjoyed Bahamas. She could totally become the local royalty here! :)
The end!
Love this post! I went on the same route with Royal Caribbean and surely loved it. Keep posting, you are very good at it:) Vera
